Feature Store Online Service: New pricing and billing line items (Pending)

Snowflake is changing how the Feature Store online service is billed. The online service is the managed infrastructure that provides low-latency online feature serving for the Online Feature Store. Starting on the effective date, the online service is billed as a standalone service with its own entries in the Snowflake Service Consumption Table.

Important

This change isn’t part of a behavior change bundle. It is expected to take effect on October 19, 2026. Dates are subject to change.

Behavior change

Before the change:

Usage of the Feature Store online service is billed as the underlying Snowflake Postgres and Snowpark Container Services usage.

After the change:

Usage of the Feature Store online service is billed as three Feature Store Online Service line items:

  • Compute: An hourly rate based on the size of the online service, from XS (designed for development and testing) to 3XL. Sizes S through 3XL include high availability and redundancy. The online service is always on, so compute is billed for every hour that the service exists. See Table 1(j) of the Snowflake Service Consumption Table.
  • Autoscale compute: When throughput exceeds the capacity of the compute nodes included in the size, Snowflake adds compute nodes automatically and removes them when the load subsides. Each additional node is billed per hour while it runs. See Table 1(k) of the Snowflake Service Consumption Table.
  • Storage: A monthly rate per terabyte for the feature data stored in the online store. See Table 3(h) of the Snowflake Service Consumption Table.

This usage is reported under the following service types:

  • ONLINE_FEATURE_STORE_COMPUTE
  • ONLINE_FEATURE_STORE_AUTOSCALE_COMPUTE
  • ONLINE_FEATURE_STORE_STORAGE

What doesn’t change

  • Other costs associated with the Feature Store continue to be billed as separate items:
    • Offline refresh (batch feature pipelines that compute feature values) is billed as virtual warehouse compute for dynamic tables.
    • Online sync (materializing and synchronizing data from the offline store into the online store) is billed as virtual warehouse compute.
    • Stream offline writeback (writing processed stream events back to the offline store) is billed as Snowpipe Streaming.
  • Online serving with hybrid tables doesn’t use the Feature Store online service. It continues to be billed as hybrid table compute and storage.

Impact and preparation

No action is required. The new billing line items take effect automatically, and existing online service workloads continue to operate as they do today.

After the change, your bill and cost management views show Feature Store Online Service usage under the new service types instead of under Snowflake Postgres and Snowpark Container Services. If you track online service costs by service type, for example in budgets, dashboards, or queries against usage views, update them to include the new service types.

The Feature Store online service isn’t available on Google Cloud.
