October 03, 2024 — New Cortex LLM Function - PARSE_DOCUMENT — Preview¶

With this release, we are pleased to announce the preview of a new Snowflake Cortex PARSE_DOCUMENT function for text and layout extraction from documents. The PARSE_DOCUMENT function gives you the ability to extract text or layout natively using SQL from documents stored in a Snowflake or an external stage.

PARSE_DOCUMENT combines powerful Optical Character Recognition (OCR) capabilities with machine learning models to identify text content, information stored in tables, and the structural elements of PDF documents. For details, see Cortex Parse Document overview.
