Snowflake Cortex AI_SUMMARIZE is now available in public preview, enabling customers to summarize text and multimodal content, including images and documents, directly in Snowflake. AI_SUMMARIZE automatically identifies and condenses key themes, facts, and relationships from content such as visual workflows, diagrams, reports, research papers, and contracts. Customers can quickly generate concise summaries of complex enterprise content using a single SQL function, without custom prompts, model selection, or document-processing pipelines.
Key use cases include:
- Extract key themes automatically: Quickly identify the main topics, takeaways, and important details from long-form content without defining what to extract in advance.
- Summarize complex documents: Turn long reports, contracts, research papers, and other business documents into concise summaries that surface the most important themes and information.
- Understand visual content: Summarize images such as diagrams, workflows, charts, and other visual content by identifying the key concepts and relationships they communicate.
- Summarize document libraries at scale: Apply AI_SUMMARIZE to tables of file references to summarize collections of documents without individually naming or processing each file.
- Simplify document summarization pipelines: Summarize multimodal content directly in Snowflake without building custom chunking, parsing, prompt engineering, or model-selection workflows.
